Jakarta Branch BI Represenative Head, Arlyana Abubakar said QRIS socialization should be intensified to expand the digitalization of the payment system to encourage Jakarta to become a global city.

It aimed to campaign for the superiority, benefits, and urgency of the QRIS payment system for citizens. It was also to realize the digitalization transformation of the payment system which can encourage economic growth.
According to him, the QRIS development in Jakarta had grown very significantly in the last few years. The volume of its transactions in Jakarta throughout 2023 had exceeded four times the amount of transactions in 2021.
"This achievement was driven by the significance of the number of QRIS users in Jakarta which reached 5.5 million or grew 22.08 percent," he explained.
According to market share, the distribution of QRIS transactions is almost inclusive throughout the Jakarta area. Until today, South Jakarta has the highest transaction volume share at 28.19 percent, followed by West Jakarta at 27.23 percent.
"The inclusiveness of QRIS use in Jakarta is also strengthened by the presence of merchants which has reached 5.09 million or grew 18.16 percent," he stated.
Thus far, his party had succeeded in attracting enthusiasm from residents regarding the use of QRIS transactions. This condition was used to campaign for the latest features of QRIS services such as the Withdrawal, Cash Transfer and Cash Deposit (Tuntas) and cross border features.
The QRIS cross border feature can be a solution for payment transactions between countries. Through this feature, Indonesian people can directly make transactions using QRIS in cross-border QRIS member countries such as the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.
Meanwhile, the QRIS Tuntas feature allows users to make cash withdrawals, transfers and cash deposits at ATMs or QRIS agents. This feature is provided to support the stability of interconnection payment systems and interoperability between providers and funding sources.
"In the future, we'll continue to expand acceptance of digital payments through network improvements and expansion," he stated.
